BWB completes a second acquisition

BWB is delighted to announce the acquisition of QMP as part of a long term strategic plan to add value and resilience to the BWB Group.

Established in 1974, QMP provides building surveying, project management and quantity surveying predominantly to public sector and Higher Education Clients.

QMP operates from a Head office in Brixworth, Northamptonshire and an office in Cambridge. QMP has an established reputation, predominantly in the public sector, for the provision of innovative, commercially driven solutions at all stages of a building project’s life-cycle.

Why QMP?

Stefan Zalega, BWB’s Group Commercial Director said “Quite simply, ‘Together We Are Stronger,’ because there is a very good fit between our respective services and Clients.  Unlike BWB, QMP has a long history and strong reputation with public sector Clients.  This complements and blends well with BWB’s rich private sector heritage and provides strong cross-market presence and a solid foundation for future growth and prosperity.  With Clients increasingly seeking ‘one-stop shop’ consultants QMP’s service mix and expertise will enable the BWB Group to offer a much wider range of services throughout a building or infrastructure asset’s lifecycle”.

Matt Allcard, Commercial Director in BWB’s Buildings and Built Environment Group said “Together we can provide Clients with a comprehensive range of consultancy services across the entire life cycle of their development projects; from initial feasibility and planning, through design and construction, operation and maintenance, and ultimately through to redevelopment”.

Stefan Zalega added “BWB excel in delivering planning and design services whilst QMP have a solid reputation in providing asset management and construction management services.  Digital Information Management will underpin the combined service offering, partly driven by the need to comply with evolving political and institutional demands (BIM Level 2 2016), but mainly driven by the commercial imperative to maximise effectiveness and efficiency of operation.   Blending QMP’s specialist services with BWB’s multi-disciplinary capability creates a combined service offering that will differentiate the BWB Group from the majority of our competitors”.

QMP operate primarily in the public sector where work is secured almost exclusively via frameworks. Access to those frameworks will inevitably provide BWB Consulting with enhanced opportunity to secure more public sector work to add resilience to the business. Importantly, this should also enable BWB to introduce collaborative working opportunities to larger Project management and Quantity Services practices with whom we have strong historic working relationships.

Stefan Zalega and Matt Allcard, together with Paul Collins, BWB’s Group Finance Director join Anthony Hart and Martin Strong as QMP Directors.

Commenting on the deal, Martin Strong said “QMP have been in communication with BWB for a number of months and both companies were quick to pick up on synergies that exist and potential opportunities that are available, if we work together.  QMP has a fantastic history and legacy, but remains ambitious and eager to grow. Becoming part of The BWB Group was a logical step for us, as support from the BWB Group will allow QMP to have more market presence and give us greater reach, which will provide everyone with opportunities that may not have existed previously. I am excited to begin this new chapter and look forward to working together with BWB on some great projects.”

Anthony Hart added “the deal with BWB will enable QMP to reach its full potential, enter new markets and provide a strong platform for healthy and sustained growth in the future. Of particular excitement will be the opportunity to work in the new sectors that BWB currently operate in that QMP doesn’t, but have always had the desire to. We have already worked successfully on a few schemes with BWB, via their introduction, and the chance to open this out to hopefully many more is exciting for the business. BWB is a very well respected consultancy that will not only enhance QMP on many levels, but will also enable us to reach our full potential to work on bigger and more varied projects with a true one stop shop offering to our many Clients. On a personal level the chance to be part of a growing and energetic business that is looking to expand further is a very exciting prospect”.
