North West entrepreneurs secure inclusion on international wellbeing accelerator programme

The team of North West entrepreneurs behind PelliTec®, the innovative blister prevention pad, has been accepted onto a prestigious international healthy ageing and physical activity accelerator programme based in Sheffield.

Tectores Ltd, based at Thornton Science Park, will be taking part in the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) six-month programme starting in November 2020. The team plan to use the time to complete the development of their innovative insole which features patented anti-blister technology.

The AWRC provides world-class research and design capabilities through state-of the-art, fully instrumented indoor and outdoor laboratories as well as access to a wide range of academic expertise including health, engineering, sport science, robotics and applied computing. This is in a bid to manage and treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, where foot problems caused by blisters, can be mobility and life limiting.

Michael McColgan, podiatrist and part of the PelliTec® team said: “To have been selected to take part in this programme is massive for us and will really help  develop and launch our new innovative insole product which we hope will tackle some of the issues around diabetic foot problems”
